COVID-19: We’re here to help!

WITTENSTEIN is continuously evaluating the latest developments surrounding COVID-19 and deriving suitable measures. To protect our employees and maintain optimal continuity of supply to our customers even with the persistently high level of infections, our precautions with regard to the tightening measures adopted by the federal and state governments in public and private life are regularly reviewed.

In summer 2021, voluntary vaccinations were offered to all employees at our Harthausen and Fellbach sites, and a further offer to receive a booster or primary dose will be made during December 2021. In addition to the already high vaccination coverage and regular testing, constant strict observance of enhanced distancing and hygiene measures remains a top priority, especially in our production shops. We are also encouraging more people to work from home again insofar as this is permitted by our business processes.

In accordance with section 28b of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG), which came into effect on November 24, 2021, employees or visitors who are unable to demonstrate proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test no more than 24 hours old (referred to as the “3G rule”) will be denied access to our sites in Germany. Our transportation service providers and delivery partners have been advised in clear terms of our intention to consistently implement the law as it stands and urged to show similar consistency with regard to their own companies. Our aim is to carry on providing excellent support and ensure prompt and reliable deliveries to our customers in spite of the current pandemic.

We are still able to manufacture and deliver without any restrictions.

Ever since the pandemic began, we have been doing everything in our power to keep production going at our plants and deliver our usual standard of products and services. Our goal is to continue supporting our customers without any restrictions. We have managed to keep our business operations going as normal until now and we are profiting from our high level of vertical integration.

The health of our employees is a top priority.

We have continuously implemented measures to protect our employees ever since the spread of COVID-19 began, and they are meanwhile firmly established in our procedures. Compliance with the strict distancing rules and hygiene measures (“AHA rules”) currently in effect remains a requirement in all of our production shops and offices.

We stay in contact.

In the future, provided we exercise due caution – and taking account of the individual risk situation in the local region – we can increase the level of personal contact with our customers again and we look forward to welcoming you to our premises. Both we and our guests will be required to have valid proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test no more than 24 hours old (“3G rule”). We will naturally also continue to make use of virtual meetings to communicate with one another and hold webinars as a means of searching for solutions and paths together with you. And, by the way, if you’re looking for the perfect drive for your application, feel free to use our online sizing tools: they will help you select the most suitable gearbox quickly and easily, design complex kinematic sequences or download CAD data conveniently.

We say thank you.

  • Thank you to all those who are committed to protecting the health of people affected as we fight the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Thank you to all those who keep the infrastructure in place and maintain essential supplies to the population.
  • Thank you to society at large for being mindful of others.
  • Thank you to our governments for acting quickly and decisively.
  • Thank you also to all those who think out of the box, voice well-founded criticism and through their opposition live out democracy.
  • Thank you to our customers who continue to put their trust in us regardless of the crisis.
  • Thank you to our suppliers and partners who deliver their services to us in the best possible way in spite of everything.
  • Thank you to all our employees who are keeping the business going uninterrupted under such adverse conditions.

Selected measures

3G rule at the workplace

Under section 28b of the German Infection Protection Act, which came into effect on November 24, 2021, only employees carrying proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test no more than 24 hours old (“3G rule”) are allowed to be present at their workplace. As the employer, we are required to monitor and document adherence to this rule by carrying out close checks.

Strict hygiene and social distancing rules

We urge our employees to strictly observe the hygienic measures and social distancing guidelines, and we endeavor to raise their awareness of the rules for social contacts.

We make sure that our administrative employees maintain a sufficient distance at all times while on the WITTENSTEIN premises and we encourage mobile working. We also encourage people to work from home insofar as this is permitted by our business processes.

Employees at all German sites are required to wear a face covering as soon as they leave their workplace.

The provision and use of rapid antigen (point of care) tests for self-sampling, coupled with the offer of free vaccinations directly at the place of work, represents a further important expression of our solidarity with efforts to prevent infections not only within the company but also as a result of contacts with our customers and business partners.

Spatial separation

We ensure sufficient distancing and / or spatial separation between employees in administration, for example by means of skeleton staffing and mobile working.

Contactless shift changes

We have established staggered shift changes in the manufacturing areas in order to reduce exposure.

Separate logistics

Goods acceptance is kept apart from incoming goods.

Virtual meetings

We hold mainly Skype or telephone conferences rather than personal meetings. This applies equally to customers, partners, employees and suppliers. Personal meetings can be conducted in compliance with the familiar “AHA” (physical distancing, hygiene and masks) and “3G” (proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test no more than 24 hours old) rules.

Limitation of travel

Our employees are allowed to undertake business trips in compliance with the “3G rule” (proof of vaccination, recovery or testing) and in consultation with the customer or business partner concerned. However, international business trips are still only permitted in exceptional cases and are subject to the entry and exit regulations applicable to the country concerned.

Internal task force

Our task force provides regular information to employees and explains the various measures, or easing of these measures, to people.
